We are raising funds to train the Friends of Rhema School to make reusable feminine products for girls at Rhema School.

The project will provide women with a practical sewing skill while helping girls access reusable menstrual products with dignity.

Regional Impact of Sanitary Towel Accessibility in Eastern Uganda

In eastern Uganda research has revealed significant challenges related to school attendance among adolescent girls. Key findings include:

  • Severe Absentee Rates: More than 30% of adolescent girls are reported to miss school regularly.

  • Financial Barriers: The high cost of sanitary towels is a primary factor contributing to these absentee rates.

  • Impact on Education: Frequent school absences can hinder educational attainment and long-term opportunities for these girls.

Addressing the issue of sanitary towel affordability is crucial for improving school attendance and educational outcomes in this region.

Current project costs:

  • Sewing materials — 750,000 UGX

  • Extra sewing machine — 100,000 UGX

  • Materials for 10 reusable-product packs — 1,200,000 UGX

Total: 2,050,000 UGX

Reusable Feminine Products / Sewing Project: approximately £395

  • Sewing materials: £144

  • Extra sewing machine: £19

  • Materials for 10 reusable-product packs: £231

Your gift can help women learn, make and support the next generation.
